My Story

A Journey to High-Protein Vegetarian Cooking

Hi, I'm Sonia.

I didn't grow up vegetarian, and I'm not a nutritionist or a professional chef. I'm simply someone who loves food and believes that changing the way we eat doesn't have to mean giving up the meals we enjoy.

Over the years, I became increasingly concerned about the way much of our meat and fish is produced and sourced. At the same time, I carried the same assumption many people do—that eating more vegetarian meals meant compromising on protein.

But the more I cooked and experimented, the more that old stereotype started to disappear.

Across the world, entire cuisines have been built around naturally protein-rich ingredients like lentils, beans, chickpeas, soy, nuts and seeds. Long before protein powders and ultra-processed meat alternatives existed, these ingredients were nourishing communities with meals that were both satisfying and packed with flavour.

That discovery became the inspiration for Vegetarian Protein Kitchen.

Here, I explore traditional recipes from different cultures, adapt them for everyday home cooks when needed, and share them with anyone looking to enjoy more vegetarian meals without compromising on flavour or protein intake.

Every recipe is cooked and tested in my own kitchen. Nutritional values are estimated using recognised nutrition databases and calorie-tracking software to provide a practical guide, although they may vary depending on the exact ingredients and brands you use.

Whether you're vegetarian, flexitarian or simply looking to eat less meat or fish, I hope these recipes help you discover just how exciting naturally high-protein vegetarian cooking can be.

Welcome to my kitchen!
